The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is taking steps to expand its aviation industry by engaging in strategic talks with Embraer, a renowned aircraft manufacturer. Bandar Al-Khorayef, the Saudi Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, has met with Dimas Douglas Tomlin, Embraer’s Executive Vice President of Strategy and Innovation, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
These discussions are centered around the potential for collaboration between Saudi Arabia and Embraer, with the goal of tapping into Embraer’s extensive knowledge in the realms of aircraft production, assembly, and maintenance. This initiative is part of a larger effort by Saudi Arabia to diversify its economy and cultivate advanced industrial capabilities.
Al-Khorayef had the opportunity to explore Embraer’s facilities in Ozires Silva, Eugenio de Melo, and Gavião Peixoto, including a visit to the company’s hub for research and engineering.
The dialogue between the two parties began at the Saudi-Brazilian Aviation Forum in 2023, laying the groundwork for future cooperation.
A significant development occurred in May 2024, when Embraer, the National Industrial Development Center (NIDC), and AHQ Group signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU). This agreement is poised to enhance the aviation landscape in Saudi Arabia.
The partnership is in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 and aims to incorporate Embraer aircraft into the country’s fleets, promote technological collaborations, and fortify the aviation supply chain.
