The Saudi Geological Survey (SGS) has announced the release of new geological data packages, marking a significant enhancement to its National Geological Database (NGD) Portal. This release coincides with the SGS’s founding day, highlighting its dedication to advancing the mining sector with reliable geological data.
The latest data packages cover 30% of the Arabian Shield and include surface geochemical and aerial geophysical survey data from the General Geological Survey Program. The initiative also features the spectral scanning of over 70 kilometers of core samples and the digitization of more than 4000 technical reports on mineral deposit sites.
The NGD Portal acts as a centralized hub for geological data, aiding researchers, industry professionals, and investors in making informed decisions, thereby fostering innovation in Saudi Arabia’s mining and mineral sector.
