Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) has received bids from major utility companies to build a 380kV substation in Mawqaq, central Saudi Arabia, and to undertake several Overhead Transmission Line (OHTL) projects. This substation, called Mawqaq PV 380kV BSP, is part of Saudi Arabia’s expanding Renewable Energy Projects, according to SEC.

Trading & Development Partnership (TDP) submitted the lowest offer for the substation, with a bid of SAR 592 million ($158 million), as confirmed by SEC. For the 380kV OHTL connecting Mawqaq PV 380kV BSP to the national grid, Alfanar Projects was the lowest bidder at SAR 159.3 million ($42.3 million).

SEC noted that final project awards will depend on the evaluation of all submitted proposals.

Additionally, the Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC) has released a Request for Proposals for the sixth round of renewable energy initiatives under the National Renewable Energy Program, overseen by the Ministry of Energy. These projects are expected to add a total capacity of 4,500 MW.
