TotalEnergies and Aljomaih Energy & Water (AEW) have won a 400 MW solar project in As Sufun, Saudi Arabia, under the National Renewable Energy Program, according to the companies. The plant will be developed, built, and operated by the consortium for the Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC).
The project includes a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement with SPPC and targets grid connection by 2027, according to the companies. Once operational, it is expected to supply clean power to more than 68,400 homes, according to the companies.
This initiative supports Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals to reduce reliance on liquid fuels and raise renewables to as much as 50 percent of the national energy mix, according to the companies. Company leaders said the award reinforces their commitment to advancing the Kingdom’s energy transition.
Located in the Hail region, the As Sufun Solar PV Project adds to TotalEnergies’ renewables footprint in Saudi Arabia, which includes the 119 MW Wadi Al Dawasir plant and the 300 MW Rabigh 2 project, according to the companies.
