MediSun Energy, a Singapore-based specialist in integrated brine management, has signed two significant Memorandums of Understanding with GreenTech Environmental, a leading Chinese company in water treatment and resource recovery, during the Global Water Expo in Riyadh.
The collaboration combines MediSun’s advanced Reverse Electrodialysis (RED) and Selective Electrodialysis Metathesis (S-EDM) technologies with GreenTech’s modular Newater House desalination units. These units, capable of both brackish and seawater reverse osmosis, will now be enhanced with MediSun’s solutions to boost energy efficiency, increase water recovery, and reduce brine discharge.
According to MediSun, the first agreement enables the distribution of Newater House across the Middle East and Africa, while GreenTech will introduce MediSun’s technologies in China. The second agreement, focused on Saudi Arabia through the MediSun Arabia joint venture with MOAJ Holding, aims to build local expertise by establishing manufacturing, transferring technology, and providing training programs within the Kingdom.
Joseph Chua, Co-Founder and President of MediSun, emphasized that the partnership will accelerate the deployment of modular desalination technology and build long-term capabilities in Saudi Arabia. Eric Zhang, Chairman of GreenTech Environmental, noted that the collaboration supports Saudi Vision 2030 and advances sustainable water management in the region. Dr. Ayman Alshelfan, Chairman of MediSun Arabia, highlighted the initiative’s role in enhancing Saudi Arabia’s water security and fostering local industry and employment.
This partnership is designed to localize innovation, support Saudi Vision 2030, and position Saudi Arabia as a leader in next-generation desalination, with ambitions to export sustainable water solutions globally.
MediSun Energy develops technologies to transform desalination brine and industrial waste into valuable resources, focusing on sustainability and decarbonization. GreenTech Environmental provides advanced water treatment systems, offering scalable solutions for efficient and sustainable water management.
