Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Power has entered into a memorandum of understanding with Snam, an Italian gas grid operator, to explore joint initiatives for creating a green hydrogen supply chain to Europe.

This partnership aims to establish a reliable and cost-effective international supply of green hydrogen, connecting Saudi production with European markets.

The collaboration also includes plans to evaluate the construction of an ammonia import terminal in Italy, facilitating the transport of green hydrogen through the SoutH2 Corridor, spanning 3,300 km across Italy, Austria, and Germany.

ACWA Power is advancing the world’s largest utility-scale green hydrogen facility in Saudi Arabia, in collaboration with Air Products and NEOM, powered entirely by renewable energy. Additionally, the company has commenced a green hydrogen project in Uzbekistan, aiming for a first-phase output of 3,000 tonnes annually. Other significant projects are underway in Egypt, Indonesia, and Tunisia.
