A consortium including Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO) has secured a major role in Saudi Arabia’s latest renewable energy rollout.
The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported that the Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC) awarded five wind and solar projects totaling 4,500 MW, with planned investment of 9 billion Saudi riyals (about 3.4 trillion won), according to SPA.
Within this package, the 1,500 MW Dawadmi onshore wind project near Riyadh was awarded to a consortium of KEPCO and Saudi renewable developer Nesma, SPA said.
The remaining projects were won by Masdar (UAE), Électricité de France (EDF), and TotalEnergies, according to SPA.
The awards mark another step in Saudi Arabia’s push to scale up clean power and diversify its energy mix.
