Pure Lithium Corporation has secured a key patent in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its vertically integrated lithium metal battery technology. The patent covers the company’s approach to uniting lithium extraction, anode production, and battery manufacturing under a single value chain.
The company’s Brine to Battery™ process, now a registered trademark in Saudi Arabia, is designed to turn lithium-rich brines directly into pure lithium metal anodes. This integrated model supports the creation of regional battery hubs with localized supply chains, especially in countries that already possess the necessary raw materials.
Saudi Arabia’s lithium-bearing brines and abundant vanadium make it a strategic fit for Pure Lithium’s first- and second-generation battery technologies. The company aims to help regions like the Kingdom build secure, closed-loop battery ecosystems that reduce reliance on long, fragmented global supply chains.
According to the company, Pure Lithium Corporation previously received a foundational U.S. patent for lithium metal and lithium batteries in 2023 and has built a substantial intellectual property portfolio of more than 128 patents and patent applications worldwide, supported by multiple trademarks. Saudi Arabia’s Energy Capital Group became an investor in 2023, viewing the technology as a way for the Kingdom to enter battery manufacturing with a strong supply chain advantage.
Pure Lithium’s battery design eliminates graphite, nickel, cobalt, and manganese, reducing dependence on conventional battery materials and the countries that dominate their processing. The company says its lithium metal battery offers higher performance, lower weight, and lower production costs compared to current lithium-ion technology, positioning it as a next-generation alternative for global energy storage and mobility applications.
Based in Chicago and led by CEO Emilie Bodoin, Pure Lithium continues to develop and commercialize its Brine to Battery™ technology, with the pure lithium metal anode at the core of its product roadmap. The company presents its solution as a step change in battery performance, cost, and safety, aligned with the needs of countries seeking to localize and secure their energy transition supply chains.
