NMDC Energy has begun fabrication operations at its state-of-the-art yard in Ras Al-Khair, Saudi Arabia. The facility, located within the Ras Al-Khair Special Economic Zone, spans 400,000 square meters and is built to handle both offshore and onshore energy projects, with an annual output capacity of 40,000 tonnes, according to NMDC Energy.
Outfitted with advanced automation and digital technologies, the yard offers comprehensive fabrication, rigging, maintenance, and modularisation services for complex energy infrastructure. The company has invested AED200 million to ensure safety, productivity, and lower emissions at the site, aiming to deliver innovative solutions that support the needs of the energy sector and Aramco.
Mohamed Hamad Almehairi, Chairman of NMDC Energy, emphasized that starting fabrication in Ras Al-Khair marks a significant milestone in the company’s regional growth. He noted NMDC Energy’s 51-year legacy and its commitment to expanding opportunities in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and the wider region.
Currently, the yard is producing nine offshore jackets for Aramco, demonstrating NMDC Energy’s ability to execute complex projects in line with Saudi Arabia’s industrial and localization objectives. This development broadens the company’s client base and supports Saudi Vision 2030 by enhancing national industrial capacity.
To ensure high standards and smooth project delivery, more than 1,800 skilled employees will be relocated from Abu Dhabi to Saudi Arabia. Over the past five years, NMDC Energy has reinvested billions of riyals into the Saudi economy, aiming to raise its In-Kingdom Total Value Add (iktva) score to 39 percent by 2025 and 51 percent by 2028, according to NMDC Energy.
As a key tenant in the Ras Al-Khair Special Economic Zone, NMDC Energy is positioned to drive further trade, investment, and job creation, while leveraging the yard’s capabilities to foster innovation across the region’s energy and manufacturing sectors.
