The Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC) has initiated a request for qualification for its sixth series of solar and wind projects as part of the National Renewable Energy Program (NREP). This move, led by the Ministry of Energy, seeks to boost the nation’s renewable energy capacity by 4,500 MW.
The projects in this round include:
- 1,500 MWac Dawadmi Wind project in Riyadh
- 1,400 MWac Najran Solar PV project in Najran
- 600 MWac Samtah Solar PV project in Jizan
- 600 MW Ad Darb Solar PV project in Jizan
- 400 MW As Sufun Solar PV project in Hail
These efforts are part of Saudi Arabia’s ambitious target to produce 50% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030. SPPC, which manages the predevelopment and tendering processes, has already facilitated over 19 GW of renewable energy capacity under the NREP.
