Arabian Qudra, a subsidiary of Saudi-based Abunayyan Holding Company, has signed an agreement with the Saudi Water Authority to develop the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s first floating solar power plant. The project underscores Arabian Qudra’s strategy to strengthen its leadership in the solar energy sector and support the country’s broader renewable energy goals.
The agreement was concluded on the sidelines of the Innovation Driven Water Sustainability Conference, where the Saudi Water Authority, the national body overseeing regulation and sustainability of the water sector, announced several strategic collaborations.
During the event, the authority also signed a research partnership with Saudi Yokogawa Company to use artificial intelligence for early detection of water leaks and to improve the efficiency of water stations and networks. This initiative aims to cut losses and enhance the performance of critical infrastructure.
Arabian Qudra is recognized as a leading solar engineering, procurement and construction provider across the Middle East and North Africa, with projects in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt and Sudan. The company manages the full value chain for utility-scale solar photovoltaic plants in-house.
In addition, the Saudi Water Authority reached a cooperation agreement with the Water Management Alliance to bolster water security, promote innovation and build expertise in sustainable water resource management. Another agreement with BW Water focuses on strengthening technical collaboration, research, training and capacity development in the water sector.
Together, these initiatives highlight a combined push to integrate renewable energy, advanced technology and international cooperation to support the long-term resilience of Saudi Arabia’s water and energy systems.
