The Shuaibah Solar Power Plant near Jeddah is on track to become the largest renewable energy project in the Middle East, with a planned capacity of 2.6 gigawatts. According to China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC), which is leading the commissioning, the facility is expected to generate more than 282 billion kilowatt-hours over 35 years and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 20 million tonnes each year.
Developed in partnership with CEEC, ACWA Power, and the Water and Electricity Holding Company (Badeel), the Shuaibah project is a key part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 initiative to expand clean energy and lessen dependence on fossil fuels. The plant will use cutting-edge photovoltaic technology and advanced automation, setting new standards for renewable energy infrastructure in the region.
