Tongwei and Saudi Arabia’s ACWA POWER have made strides in energy collaboration by signing a supply agreement for the MUWAYH photovoltaic project, under Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund. This agreement builds on the framework set during the 2024 SNEC International Photovoltaic Power Generation and Smart Energy Exhibition, marking a significant achievement under the “Belt and Road” initiative.

ACWA POWER, a leader in power investment and operation across the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, is known for its commitment to renewable energy. This partnership is a vital step toward a global green energy vision shared by Tongwei and ACWA POWER.

The agreement is a new milestone under the “Belt and Road” initiative. Tongwei quickly mobilized a team to prepare for this collaboration, showcasing both parties’ dedication to renewable energy through effective communication across time zones.

During the 2024 SNEC exhibition, the companies committed to advancing photovoltaic projects and driving breakthroughs in green energy technologies. The supply agreement for the MUWAYH project is a practical step in this direction.

Located in western Saudi Arabia, Tongwei will supply 1.175 GW of high-efficiency PV modules, with shipments starting in 2025. These modules are designed for high performance and sustainability, aligning with Saudi Arabia’s goal of net-zero carbon emissions by 2060. The project aims to start operations in 2027, generating about 1.63 billion kWh of clean electricity annually, reducing carbon emissions by approximately 1.54 million tons.

Tongwei’s vertically integrated industrial chain ensures the project’s success through quality, supply, and production capacity. By upgrading technology and delivering mass-produced products, Tongwei supports the MUWAYH project’s progress.

This initiative not only supplies clean energy to Saudi Arabia but also demonstrates the global potential of Tongwei’s large-size modules. Tongwei plans to continue investing in R&D, promoting PV technology innovation, and offering efficient, eco-friendly energy solutions worldwide, aiding in the global energy transition.
