The Roads General Authority (RGA) of Saudi Arabia has unveiled significant progress in the development of the Riyadh region’s road network. Currently, projects valued at SAR3 billion ($798 million) are underway.
These projects cover an extensive 15,000 km, focusing on new road construction and thorough maintenance across all regional governorates.
To date, the RGA has successfully completed 23 projects. This includes 20 preventive maintenance projects spanning 215 km, costing SAR170 million, and three traffic safety projects exceeding SAR171 million. The RGA aims to meet the increasing demand for efficient transportation, enhancing Saudi Arabia’s status as a global logistics leader.
Currently, 18 additional projects covering 516 km, worth SAR1.5 billion, are in progress. Alongside these, 48 preventive maintenance projects over 2,500 km, costing SAR1 billion, are also underway. An additional SAR125 million is allocated for further safety improvements.
The road network is a critical support for various sectors such as tourism, trade, logistics, and religious pilgrimages, contributing to the kingdom’s high ranking in the global road connectivity index. Leveraging advanced technology, the world’s largest AI-driven equipment fleet, and a skilled workforce, the RGA is at the forefront of modernizing the infrastructure of Saudi Arabia.
