Saudi Arabia and the United States are exploring deeper cooperation in mining and minerals following a high-level meeting in Riyadh.
His Excellency Bandar Alkhorayef, Saudi Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, met with Mr. Doug Burgum, US Secretary of the Interior and Chairman of the National Energy Dominance Council, at the ministry’s headquarters. The discussion centered on strengthening strategic partnerships across the mining value chain.
Both sides reviewed mechanisms to implement the memorandum of cooperation between the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources and the US Department of Energy in mining and mineral resources, signed during the Saudi-US Investment Forum in Riyadh last May. They also examined opportunities in critical minerals and rare earth elements.
The talks underscored the need for international collaboration to secure sustainable mineral supply chains that support the global energy transition. His Excellency Bandar Alkhorayef and Mr. Doug Burgum highlighted the Kingdom’s International Mining Conference as a key platform for industry dialogue and innovation.
Riyadh will host the fifth edition of the International Mining Conference from January 13 to 15, 2026, bringing together decision-makers, investors, technology companies, and research institutions to advance sector sustainability and solutions.
