Saudi Arabia to Host Inaugural “Hydrogen Arabia” Conference
Saudi Arabia will host the inaugural “Hydrogen Arabia” conference on 8-9 December 2025 at the Crowne Plaza Riyadh, underscoring its growing influence in sustainable energy. The event will bring together international leaders, investors, and innovators to discuss hydrogen’s role in the Middle East’s clean energy future and highlight the Kingdom’s dedication to Vision 2030.
According to PR Newswire, Saudi Arabia is targeting 50% of its electricity from renewables by 2030, with over 1 trillion Saudi Riyals (about $270 billion) allocated to the power sector, including $235 billion for renewable energy. These investments are aimed at expanding renewable capacity, modernizing infrastructure, and advancing hydrogen production and export.
Hydrogen Arabia will emphasize hydrogen’s central role in Saudi Arabia’s clean energy plans, showcasing projects like the NEOM green hydrogen initiative, currently the world’s largest. The event will also promote the Kingdom’s Circular Carbon Economy (CCE) framework, which was introduced during Saudi Arabia’s G20 Presidency in 2020 to support comprehensive emissions management and cleaner energy systems.
The Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) has committed $10 billion to green hydrogen projects, leveraging the country’s solar and wind resources for innovation and market expansion. The national hydrogen strategy, launched in 2020, aims to produce 1.2 million tons of green hydrogen and capture 10% of the global hydrogen market by 2030.
- Saudi Arabia is positioning itself as a major hydrogen exporter, with agreements in place with partners in Europe and Asia.
- Key projects include a $5 billion green hydrogen facility in NEOM.
- Expanding hydrogen use in industrial hubs such as Jubail, Yanbu, and Jazan.
With strong government support, abundant renewables, and a commitment to decarbonization, Saudi Arabia offers significant opportunities for hydrogen technology and investment. The Hydrogen Arabia conference is set to foster collaboration and drive the Kingdom’s clean energy transition.
