Jinko Solar has solidified its role in the clean energy sector by inking a significant deal with Larsen & Toubro (L&T) for the provision of Solar PV Modules to be used in the NEOM Green Hydrogen Project. This initiative, the largest of its kind, is currently being developed in Oxagon, Saudi Arabia, and is poised to make waves in the drive for sustainability.
A collaborative venture, the mega-plant is the brainchild of ACWA Power, NEOM, and Air Products, and will harness both wind and solar energy. With a goal set for the end of 2026, the plant is expected to produce an impressive 600 tonnes of hydrogen daily without carbon emissions. The hydrogen will then be converted into green ammonia, which can be utilized as a clean fuel for various modes of transport and industrial processes.
Marking a significant stride towards achieving Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, this project cements the Kingdom’s position as a leader in the global transition to clean energy. The country is showcasing its dedication to this cause through influential projects such as this one.
Larsen & Toubro has secured the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for several critical components of the project. These include a 2.2 GWac PV Solar Plant, a 1.65 GW Wind Generation Balance Plant, and a 400 MWh Battery Energy Storage System. Additionally, L&T will be responsible for constructing three 380 kV Switching Stations and 306 KM of 380 kV Overhead lines to connect with the Kingdom’s Grid network.
Jinko Solar is set to deliver 1GWp of its advanced Tiger Neo ‘N-Type TOPCon modules for the project, contributing significantly to the plant’s renewable energy output. This technology is recognized for its superior efficiency and performance.
The collaboration between Jinko Solar and other stakeholders, including NEOM Green Hydrogen Company, ACWA Power, Air Products, and Larsen & Toubro, is characterized by a shared dedication to:
- Innovation: Advancing clean energy technologies, such as the N-Type TOPCon technology, to foster a sustainable future.
- Sustainability: Promoting environmentally responsible initiatives that aid in the global decarbonization effort.
- Collaboration: Building robust partnerships within the industry to further the goals of clean energy and sustainability.
