Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Energy has introduced the Taqatech Accelerator, a new initiative to boost startups focused on local content, technology localization, and job creation. Launched in partnership with The Garage, the program aims to foster innovation, drive economic growth, and support environmental sustainability in the energy sector, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
The launch event was attended by His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Energy, and His Excellency Abdullah Alswaha, Minister of Communications and Information Technology. The Taqatech Accelerator was developed with input from top energy firms, universities, and research centers to connect entrepreneurs with government bodies and investors.
The program is designed to nurture startups that advance energy efficiency, reduce costs, and promote local solutions, helping Saudi Arabia maintain its leadership in global energy markets. Startups targeting emissions reduction, clean energy, and supply chain resilience are also supported.
Over three years, the accelerator will support 60 startups, divided into three cohorts of 20 each. The process unfolds in four phases—exploration, acceleration, pilot projects, and investment rounds—lasting between six and twelve months.
This initiative reinforces Saudi Arabia’s commitment to economic diversification, technology advancement, and sustainable energy leadership.
