In an effort to promote sustainability within its borders, Saudi Arabia is taking a holistic approach to its economic sectors, with a strong emphasis on human potential, as part of its Vision 2030 objectives.
The Kingdom’s Minister of Economy and Planning, Faisal Al-Ibrahim, conveyed Saudi Arabia’s key role in the pursuit of global climate goals at the High-Level Political Forum for Sustainable Development 2024 in New York. He highlighted over 80 initiatives and investments surpassing $180 billion dedicated to cultivating a green economy and establishing Saudi Arabia’s leadership in renewable energy.
Al-Ibrahim’s address underlined the Kingdom’s strategy to foster sustainable development, which encompasses the entirety of the economic system and concentrates on unlocking human capacity in alignment with Vision 2030.
“In Saudi Arabia, we realize that sustainable progress depends on creating and exploiting opportunities to improve the general standard of living and enhance the quality of life.”
He also emphasized the necessity for establishing a prioritization system that allows nations to concentrate on the most effective policies and solutions. Such a system would be aimed at achieving significant impacts for the greatest number of people in the shortest timeframe, thereby expediting advancement.
The Saudi delegation’s participation in the 2024 High-Level Political Forum, held at the United Nations headquarters from July 8 to 18, is a testament to the Kingdom’s commitment. The event’s theme, “Promoting the 2030 Agenda concerned with sustainable development and eliminating poverty in light of multiple crises,” resonates with Saudi Arabia’s sustainable development endeavors.
