Almarai, a leading dairy and food company in the Middle East, has chosen Swiss packaging systems group SIG as a key partner for its five-year expansion strategy. This decision aims to bolster Almarai’s market leadership and drive sustainable innovation.

Building on a successful two-decade partnership, Almarai and SIG have introduced numerous product innovations and advanced packaging solutions in the region. They have established high standards in quality, adaptability, and environmental responsibility, enhancing Almarai’s product offerings and market reach.

Over the next five years, SIG will support Almarai’s goals with flexible manufacturing solutions that align with their sustainability objectives. This partnership reflects a shared dedication to environmental responsibility, with both companies exploring new packaging innovations to expand Almarai’s operational and geographical impact.

To celebrate their partnership, Almarai and SIG are launching the “Pioneering Together for 20 Years” campaign. This initiative highlights SIG’s advanced packaging solutions and the evolution of Almarai’s product portfolio, emphasizing their commitment to innovation for regional consumers.

Ramesh Nair, Head of Central Procurement at Almarai, noted the importance of their collaboration with SIG, which has been crucial to delivering sustainable packaging solutions that enhance consumer experiences and demonstrate adaptability in expanding product lines.

Throughout their partnership, Almarai and SIG have introduced groundbreaking products, such as the first-to-market 150 ml juice packs, later evolving to the popular 140 ml format. In 2021, Almarai became a pioneer in using SIG Asset Health Monitoring for condition-based maintenance, optimizing equipment availability and reducing downtime.

In 2008, Almarai introduced a white cheese delicacy in SIG’s carton packs, a first in the region. These efforts have allowed Almarai to reach diverse consumer segments and expand its market presence while maintaining product quality and customer trust.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, SIG’s unwavering support was critical, with technical teams ensuring uninterrupted production at Almarai’s facilities, adhering to national guidelines. This support helped Almarai meet the demand for fresh and packaged products, showcasing the strength of their alliance.

David Kazan, Head of Markets – Middle East & Pakistan at SIG, expressed pride in supporting Almarai’s mission to provide nutritious and quality products. He emphasized that their shared commitment to operational excellence and sustainability has been central to their partnership, with plans to continue innovating together.
