Va Tech Wabag, an Indian water technology company, has secured a major contract to build a 300 million litres per day (MLD) seawater reverse osmosis desalination plant in Yanbu, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, according to the Saudi Water Authority (SWA).

The project, valued at approximately $272 million (₹2,332 crore), will be constructed on a new site along Saudi Arabia’s west coast. The agreement covers all aspects of the plant’s development, including design, engineering, supply, construction, and commissioning.

Rohan Mittal, Head of Strategy and Business Growth for GCC at Wabag, stated that this achievement highlights the company’s technical expertise and ability to deliver large-scale desalination projects. He also noted that the initiative supports the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 and strengthens Wabag’s position in the global desalination sector.

Wabag has received the Letter of Award, with formal contract procedures set to begin soon. The official project start date will be announced after the contract is finalized.
