Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 is driving a major shift toward advanced manufacturing, with Alat at the center of this transformation. Founded in 2024 in Riyadh, the company is building a high-tech industrial base that leverages automation and artificial intelligence, according to Alat.

Alat’s CEO Amit Midha engages regularly with global business leaders who are contending with supply chain volatility, skills gaps, and rapid technological change. He highlights Saudi Arabia’s strategic location, supportive policies, modern infrastructure, and skilled workforce as key advantages, combined with competitive energy costs and an AI-first approach to manufacturing, according to Alat.

Strategic Partnerships Driving Advanced Manufacturing

A cornerstone of this strategy is Alat’s partnership with Lenovo, formed in 2024. Lenovo’s new facility in Riyadh is set to become its largest plant outside China and the only global site producing PCs, servers, and mobile devices in a single location, with AI and automation embedded throughout production and workforce systems, according to the company.

Alat has also acquired a 15% stake in TK Elevator, according to Alat, creating a joint venture to produce elevators, escalators, and moving walks for Saudi Arabia and the wider Middle East and Africa. AI-enabled predictive maintenance is being integrated from the outset, aiming to raise standards of safety, reliability, and efficiency while building local expertise and high-value jobs in urban mobility technologies.

Through a separate collaboration with SoftBank, Alat is developing a next-generation facility to manufacture autonomous industrial robots for global export markets, according to the companies. This initiative supports Vision 2030’s ambition to attract foreign investment, accelerate technological innovation, and reinforce economic resilience.

For international manufacturers, Midha describes this moment as a rare opportunity to scale quickly, modernize operations, and cultivate local talent in one of the world’s fastest-evolving industrial hubs. Backed by the Public Investment Fund, Alat is working to establish Saudi Arabia as a leading global center for advanced, AI-driven manufacturing and innovation.
