The United States has cleared a major export of advanced artificial intelligence chips to the Gulf, underscoring how quickly the region is building out its AI capabilities. According to the original report, Washington has authorized the shipment of up to 70,000 cutting-edge AI processors to Emirati technology firm G42 and Saudi Arabia’s Humain.
The approved export marks a significant step for both companies, which have been investing heavily in next-generation computing and data infrastructure. Each firm is expected to receive a substantial share of the chips, giving them the hardware needed to train and deploy more powerful AI models.
For the Gulf states, this decision signals deeper integration into the global AI supply chain and greater access to high-performance computing previously restricted by export controls. It also highlights how competition in AI is increasingly shaped by access to advanced semiconductors as much as by software and research talent.
In essence, the new export approval strengthens the technological ambitions of G42 and Humain while reinforcing the Gulf region’s emerging role as a hub for AI development and deployment.
