Saudi Arabia has unveiled the official logo for the World Water Forum 2027, marking the beginning of preparations for the event’s first-ever Middle East edition in Riyadh. The launch, led by His Excellency Abdulrahman Alfadley, Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, took place with World Water Council President Loïc Fauchon in attendance.
The kickoff meeting brought together international experts to address urgent water challenges and to outline Saudi Arabia’s plans for hosting the forum. His Excellency Abdulrahman Alfadley highlighted the Kingdom’s commitment to global cooperation on water issues, stressing the importance of universal access to water and sanitation in line with Sustainable Development Goal 6, according to the Saudi Gazette.
Saudi Arabia’s national water strategy focuses on production, storage, distribution, treatment, and reuse within a unified framework. The minister noted the implementation of Integrated Water Resources Management and a long-term supply and demand plan extending to 2050, all aligned with Saudi Vision 2030.
The Kingdom’s initiatives include the Global Water Organization and an International Water Research Center, both aimed at advancing water security, technology, and economic studies. President Loïc Fauchon emphasized the collaboration between the World Water Council and Saudi authorities in creating a comprehensive roadmap for the 2027 forum, underscoring the need to prioritize water on the global agenda.
Dr. Abdulaziz Alshaibani, Deputy Minister for Water, called for urgent, coordinated action to address water sector challenges, highlighting the importance of financing, innovation, diplomacy, and environmental responsibility.
The World Water Forum 2027 in Riyadh will serve as a major international venue for sharing solutions and strategies in water management.
