Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources has unveiled plans for Minister Bandar bin Ibrahim Alkhorayef to undertake a significant journey to Brazil and Chile. The purpose of this visit is to reinforce the kingdom’s global position in the mining domain, with a particular emphasis on expanding investments and partnerships in this sector.
The minister’s itinerary in Brazil includes engagements on a series of subjects ranging from mining to food processing and aviation. These discussions are in line with Saudi Arabia’s aspirations to diversify its industrial ties and stimulate growth in these vital sectors. In continuation of this international outreach, the minister will proceed to Chile, known for being the world’s second-largest lithium producer—a mineral essential for the manufacturing of electric vehicle batteries.
In Chile, Minister Alkhorayef’s schedule is set to feature meetings with Mining Minister Aurora Williams and executives from leading mining corporations like Antofagasta and Codelco. With Codelco, Chile’s national mining company, seeking private sector collaboration for lithium project development, Saudi Arabia has shown a keen interest through Almar Water Solutions, which previously indicated a willingness to partner on the Maricunga lithium mining initiative.
