DHL eCommerce has acquired a minority stake in AJEX Logistics Services, a Saudi Arabian company, in a move that highlights the expansion of the Kingdom’s e-commerce industry, according to information from DHL Group.
This partnership brings together DHL’s global logistics capabilities with AJEX’s extensive regional network, aiming to address the rising demand for parcel delivery in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East. The Saudi e-commerce sector is expected to grow rapidly in the coming years, fueled by digital transformation and evolving consumer needs. Logistics has become a key component of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 strategy, which prioritizes efficient supply chains to support economic diversification.
AJEX, established in 2021 with support from Ajlan & Bros Holding Group, has quickly become a major logistics provider in the Gulf Cooperation Council, operating more than 60 facilities and a fleet of 1,200 vehicles with a workforce of 2,000. Its services extend across Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, and internationally to the US, UK, Turkey, South Africa, and China. By joining forces with DHL eCommerce, AJEX will benefit from DHL’s expertise in e-commerce fulfillment, express shipping, and sustainable delivery solutions.
As part of the agreement, DHL will have representation on AJEX’s management board and may increase its ownership in the future. DHL Group’s CEO of eCommerce, Pablo Ciano, stated that the company is investing EUR 500 million in high-growth markets such as Saudi Arabia, emphasizing the importance of this partnership for delivering reliable and sustainable parcel solutions in the region.
AJEX’s Group CEO, Mohammed Albayati, described the investment as a significant achievement, noting that customers in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East will gain access to faster and more innovative delivery services, supporting the region’s expanding e-commerce landscape.
