The Global Logistics Forum 2024 was inaugurated in Riyadh by Saudi Minister of Transport and Logistic Services, Saleh Al-Jasser, under the patronage of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The event, themed “Reshaping the Global Map of Logistics,” gathers ministers, officials, and logistics experts worldwide.
Running from October 12 to 14, the forum features 130 speakers and 80 exhibitors from 30 countries. Al-Jasser expressed gratitude to King Salman and emphasized the inspirational role of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in transforming the logistics sector into a robust vision.
Al-Jasser highlighted the forum’s timely nature, stating, The global logistics sector is at a pivotal juncture.
He stressed the importance of securing supply chains and maintaining logistics operations amid global challenges.
The forum aims to enhance global logistics networks, fostering economic growth and ensuring timely delivery. Al-Jasser underscored the need to expedite the transport and logistics sector’s transformation, aligning with Vision 2030 through significant government investments.
The National Transport and Logistics Strategy, launched in 2021, plans to invest over SAR1 trillion by 2030, with SAR200 billion already allocated. This investment aims to elevate Saudi Arabia’s global logistics standing.
Saudi Arabia’s rich trade history is being leveraged with modern infrastructure like King Salman International Airport and expanded railways, crucial for achieving Vision 2030 and establishing the Kingdom as a logistics hub.
The Kingdom’s logistics system has improved global rankings, advancing 17 places in the World Bank’s Logistics Performance Index. The Saudi railway network also contributed to reducing carbon emissions by cutting down truck trips.
The forum encourages collaboration to address challenges and shape a sustainable future. It includes discussions on empowering global markets, investing in logistics infrastructure, and ensuring service resilience amid disruptions.
Key topics also cover the new era of energy ports and empowering talents to transform future industries, with participation from public and private sector leaders, experts, and industry pioneers.
