The Global Logistics Forum 2024 was inaugurated in Riyadh by Saudi Minister of Transport and Logistics Services, Saleh Al-Jasser, under the auspices of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The event, themed “Reshaping the Global Map of Logistics,” brought together a diverse group of ministers, officials, and industry leaders.
Running from October 12 to 14, the forum features 130 speakers and 80 exhibitors from 30 countries. Al-Jasser expressed gratitude to King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their support, highlighting the Crown Prince’s role in transforming the logistics sector into an ambitious vision.
Al-Jasser emphasized the forum’s timing, noting the logistics sector’s critical juncture. He highlighted the importance of safeguarding supply chains and maintaining logistics services, crucial for global trade. The forum aims to enhance and innovate global logistics networks, fostering economic prosperity and ensuring timely deliveries.
He underscored the necessity of transforming the transport and logistics sector to make Saudi Arabia a global hub, aligning with Vision 2030. The National Transport and Logistics Strategy, introduced in 2021, plans to invest over SAR1 trillion by 2030, with SAR200 billion already allocated to advance logistics infrastructure and improve the Kingdom’s global standing.
Saudi Arabia, historically a key trade crossroads, now seeks to shape its logistics future through advanced infrastructure, including King Salman International Airport, modern seaports, and expanded railways. These developments are vital for achieving Vision 2030 and establishing Saudi Arabia as a global logistics leader.
Al-Jasser noted the Kingdom’s progress in the World Bank’s Logistics Performance Index and the International Air Transport Association’s connectivity index. He also highlighted the Saudi railway network’s role in reducing carbon emissions by minimizing truck trips.
The forum encourages collaboration to tackle challenges and shape a sustainable, prosperous future. It includes panel discussions on international cooperation, logistics infrastructure investment, and adapting logistics services to disruptions. The event also explores the future of energy ports and empowering talent for industry transformation.
