During LEAP 2025, Cisco, a leader in networking and security, announced key initiatives to boost AI development in collaboration with Saudi Arabia. These efforts include establishing advanced cloud data centers, fostering AI talent, and initiating local manufacturing, all aimed at supporting the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 goals.
Strategic Partnerships
H.E. Vice Minister Haytham Alohali emphasized the Kingdom’s dedication to enhancing its digital economy through innovation and AI technology, in partnership with Cisco. Chuck Robbins, Cisco Chair and CEO, highlighted the company’s commitment to protecting organizations, preparing the workforce for AI, and contributing to the local economy.
Cloud Services and Security
Cisco has launched data centers in Saudi Arabia for cloud security services and the Webex Collaboration Platform. The security center supports services like Cisco Secure Access, offering robust protection against cyber threats. The collaboration centers enhance customer experiences with AI-driven tools and secure data handling.
AI Talent Development
As part of the Country Digital Acceleration program, Cisco aims to advance AI skills in the region. Despite 72% of Saudi organizations having AI strategies, only 46% of their talent is well-prepared, according to Cisco’s AI Readiness Index. Cisco will collaborate with King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology to enhance local IT expertise through certifications.
Manufacturing Initiatives
With plans to establish a manufacturing base in Riyadh by 2025, Cisco seeks to expand its regional presence. The initial phase will focus on wireless technology fulfillment, with potential for scaling based on market demands. This initiative aligns with Vision 2030, aiming to diversify and strengthen Saudi Arabia’s economy.
Salman Faqeeh, Managing Director of Cisco Saudi Arabia, reiterated the company’s role as a catalyst for digital transformation, contributing to economic growth and a secure digital future for the Kingdom.
