Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, His Excellency Bandar Alkhorayef, recently completed a four-day visit to North Carolina, United States, focusing on strengthening industrial ties and exploring advanced manufacturing technologies, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
During his trip, His Excellency toured Research Triangle Park and met with Secretary of Commerce Lee Lilley. Key stops included North Carolina State University’s Energy X Lab and Center for Additive Manufacturing and Logistics, as well as the SAS Institute, where discussions centered on digital twins and machine learning to enhance factory efficiency.
These meetings highlighted the potential for technologies such as artificial intelligence and advanced robotics to support Saudi Arabia’s National Industrial Strategy and Vision 2030. By collaborating with leading U.S. institutions, the Kingdom seeks to adopt global best practices, attract new investments, and create high-value job opportunities to further diversify its economy.
