Johnson Controls Arabia (JCA) is expanding its manufacturing and decarbonization efforts in Saudi Arabia, supporting the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 goals for industrial growth. The company’s focus extends beyond supplying HVAC systems, aiming to help sectors like healthcare, infrastructure, and commercial real estate reduce energy use and emissions through customized solutions, according to JCA’s CEO, Dr. Mohanad Alshaikh.

As one of Saudi Arabia’s first licensed Energy Service Companies, JCA has enabled client savings of over 500 million Saudi riyals ($133 million) and helped avoid more than 300,000 metric tonnes of CO2 emissions since 2020, based on information provided to Zawya Projects. These results have benefited hospitals, data centers, and government facilities throughout the Kingdom.

JCA is also advancing local manufacturing with products such as the YORK YVAA Style B air-cooled chiller, produced in line with the Saudi Made Programme. Recently, the company manufactured the largest air-cooled chiller in Saudi Arabia—a 600-tonne system—at its YORK Manufacturing Complex in King Abdullah Economic City. This facility, the largest of its kind for Johnson Controls in MENA, Europe, and Latin America, includes the region’s first AHRI-certified testing lab for air-cooled chillers of this size.

The new testing lab allows for local performance verification, eliminating the need to ship equipment abroad and ensuring compliance with international standards. Dr. Alshaikh highlighted that this capability builds trust with customers and accelerates project approvals by providing reliable, certified results within the Kingdom.

Looking ahead, JCA plans to introduce new product platforms designed and built in Saudi Arabia, aiming to double export output to 60 percent by 2027. The company’s AHRI certification supports exports to over 26 countries, including China and the United States. In 2024, JCA began its largest export project, delivering 1,000 YORK scroll chillers to the U.S., demonstrating the global trust in Saudi-engineered products.
