South Korea and Saudi Arabia agreed to broaden industrial cooperation as both countries align around Riyadh’s Vision 2030. Talks in Seoul focused on shipbuilding, automobiles, artificial intelligence, and support for South Korean firms operating in the kingdom.
South Korea’s Deputy Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Moon Shin-hak met with His Excellency Abdullah bin Ali Al-Ahmari, Deputy Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, to review joint projects and policy support. The meeting followed the fifth Korea – Saudi Vision 2030 Committee session held in September.
The two sides will deepen collaboration on major initiatives such as the International Maritime Industries shipyard at the King Salman Maritime Complex and Hyundai Motor’s assembly plant in King Abdullah City. They also discussed eco-friendly ship technologies and building hydrogen infrastructure for next-generation mobility.
Seoul proposed expanding work in AI and digital infrastructure, including semiconductors, data centers, and smart manufacturing. Additional cooperation areas under consideration include digital twins, cloud services, and robotics.
His Excellency Abdullah bin Ali Al-Ahmari affirmed Saudi Arabia’s view of South Korea as a strategic partner for developing high-tech industries and sustainable manufacturing capacity. The discussions underscored a shared push to pair industrial diversification with advanced technology development.
