Riyadh – Alat, a pioneering company in global industrial transformation, and Lenovo, a leading technology firm, have officially commenced construction of a new manufacturing facility in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The factory, located on a 200,000 sqm site at “Riyadh Integrated,” will produce millions of “Saudi Made” laptops, desktops, and servers, adhering to high sustainability standards.
The project follows the closing of a US$2 billion investment deal, announced in January 2025, and marks a strategic collaboration first revealed in May 2024. The new hub is set to begin production in 2026 and is strategically positioned near Riyadh’s international airport in the Special Integrated Logistics Zone (SILZ). It will bolster Lenovo’s global manufacturing network, which includes over 30 factories worldwide, and enhance the company’s supply chain resilience and flexibility.
This partnership is expected to significantly contribute to Saudi Arabia’s economic objectives, aligning with the Public Investment Fund’s strategy and Vision 2030. It aims to create up to 15,000 direct jobs and 45,000 indirect jobs, with a projected non-oil GDP contribution of $10 billion by 2030. Furthermore, Lenovo plans to establish a regional headquarters in Riyadh, expand its R&D investments, and increase marketing efforts in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region.
Yuanqing Yang, Chairman and CEO of Lenovo, stated, This powerful strategic collaboration with Alat enhances our global presence and regional footprint, supporting Vision 2030’s goals of economic diversification and job creation.
Amit Midha, CEO of Alat, emphasized their pride in partnering with Lenovo, noting the establishment of a regional headquarters and a world-class manufacturing hub powered by clean energy in Saudi Arabia.
The Lenovo investment is part of Alat’s broader strategy to boost the technological sector in Saudi Arabia by 2030. Alat plans to empower the private sector and improve the commercial environment through partnerships with leading international technology manufacturers. The company is developing manufacturing capabilities across nine business units, including semiconductors, smart devices, and AI infrastructure, appointing global experts to lead each unit.
