Saudi Arabia is set to advance in the field of vertical take-off and landing aircraft as well as unmanned planes through a new collaboration between its military and aviation sectors.
The General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI) and the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) have entered into a memorandum of understanding to enhance technological development and industrial capabilities in these areas.
This agreement is part of the Advanced Air Mobility project, which aims to introduce cutting-edge flight systems in the Kingdom. The memorandum was signed at GAMI’s Riyadh headquarters by Governor Ahmed bin Abdul Aziz Al-Ohali and GACA President Abdulaziz Al-Duailej.
The collaboration includes the exchange of scientific and practical expertise, formation of working groups, and conducting workshops. It also focuses on providing training and sharing knowledge between the two authorities.
Key aspects of the partnership include developing traffic procedures for uncrewed airliners and expanding maintenance and repair services to support the aviation sector’s sustainability and growth.
