Saudi Arabia’s cement and clinker exports surpassed 8.48 million tonnes in 2023, according to the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Bandar Alkhorayef. The country leads the Arab world and ranks 10th globally in cement production, boasting a capacity of over 80 million tonnes annually from its 20 factories.
Local cement demand reached approximately 47.3 million tonnes last year. With construction sector spending projected to hit SR6 trillion ($1.6 trillion) by 2030, this demand is expected to grow, fueled by ongoing large-scale development projects.
Enhancing Production Capacities
The minister emphasized the need for Saudi cement companies to increase production capacities to satisfy domestic and international market demands. He noted that the sector has a promising future, with companies adopting cutting-edge technologies to boost efficiency and quality.
The release of City Cement Company’s inaugural sustainability report marks a key milestone, aligning with Saudi Vision 2030’s sustainable development objectives. The company aims to lead in areas such as governance, social responsibility, and environmental protection, reinforcing its commitment to global best practices.
