Saudi Arabia’s jewellery sector is looking to collaborate with India’s renowned gemstone and craftsmanship industry to achieve its luxury market ambitions, according to Princess Nourah Al-Faisal. As the founder of Noon Jewels and a veteran designer, Her Royal Highness emphasized that Indian suppliers are crucial for Saudi jewellers aiming to compete on a global scale, noting that her own supply chain relies entirely on Indian partners, as reported by PTI.
Her Royal Highness highlighted that Saudi Arabia currently lacks the infrastructure for a fully independent jewellery industry and must work with experienced international partners to grow its capabilities. She pointed out the Kingdom’s youthful and talented workforce, describing the creative sector as a key driver for the future.
Addressing perceptions about luxury demand in Saudi Arabia, Princess Nourah Al-Faisal asserted that the Kingdom has always had a strong appetite for high-end goods and refined tastes. She praised events like SAJEX, organized by India’s Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council, for connecting Saudi consumers and designers directly with global suppliers, reducing the need to travel abroad.
On innovation, Her Royal Highness recognized the importance of technology, including artificial intelligence, in modern jewellery design and noted that regulatory hurdles remain, but the government is making progress in supporting local industry through policy and events. She also stressed the importance of sustainability, in line with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, suggesting that the Kingdom can learn from the experiences of more established markets.
Noon Jewels, which has exhibited internationally for a decade, is now considering expansion into the Indian market.
